Why is my website not showing up on Google?

If your site is invisible in search, it is almost always one of seven fixable things — from a noindex tag to a slow crawl. Here is how to find yours.

Publishing a site feels like it should appear in Google the next day. It doesn't. A new site can take days or weeks to be crawled, and an established one can vanish for reasons that have nothing to do with how good it looks. The good news: 'invisible on Google' is almost always a short list of causes, and each one leaves a clue you can check yourself in minutes.

Check these first, yourself

  1. Search `site:yourdomain.com` on Google. If pages come back, you are indexed and the problem is ranking; if nothing comes back, you are not indexed yet.

  2. Check for a noindex tag or a robots.txt block — a leftover 'hide this site' setting is one of the most common causes of an invisible launch.

  3. Confirm your sitemap is submitted in Google Search Console and open the Pages report to see which URLs are excluded, and why.

  4. Look for a manual action or security issue in Search Console — Google tells you directly when it has removed pages and the reason behind it.

Should you fix it yourself or call a rescue?

Have you tried the free fixes (images, caching, plugins)? If yes and it's still slow → the problem is deeper.
Is your hosting or server the bottleneck?Shared hosting, old PHP, no object cache → server-level problem.

Still have questions?

How long does it take for a new site to show up on Google?

Anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. New domains are crawled more cautiously, and Google has to discover, crawl and index a page before it can rank. If weeks pass with nothing at all, it is time to diagnose rather than wait.

Can I pay Google to appear in the results?

You can pay for ads, but you cannot buy your way into the free results — and anyone selling 'guaranteed #1 rankings' is not being honest with you. Free results are earned by being crawlable, fast and genuinely useful.
